RADHIALLAHU ANHUM OR RAZIALLAHU ANHUM


Radhiallah Anhum (for plural) or Rathiallah Anhu (for singular) means 'May Allah be pleased with them (or him)'. It is often represented by the acronym (RA or R). It is added after the names of the sahabah (companions) and wives of Prophet Muhammad as a sign of respect. [1]

 

Raziallahu Anhu is used for male companions and Raziallahu Anha is used for female companions of Prophet Muhammad. [2]

Qur’an

It is compulsory for every Muslim whether male or female to believe in Sahaba رضي الله عنهم(companions of Prophet Muhammad ). Allah سبحانه و تعالىhas set a criteria for the believers to follow them as mentioned in various places of the Qur’an. So if we Muslims want to be on right path then its compulsory for us to follow the companions of Prophet Muhammad as mentioned in Qur’an. Surah Baqrah 2:137, Surah Nisa 4:115 and Surah Taubah 9:100. [3]

 

Status of Sahaba رضي الله عنهم

They are considered as best of the Ummah, followed by Tabaeen and Taba tabaeen.  Narrated by Abdullah and Aisha رضي الله عنهم in other narration: The Prophet ﷺ  said, "The best people are those of my generation, and then those who will come after them (the next generation), and then those who will come after them (i.e. the next generation), and then after them, there will come people whose witness will precede their oaths, and whose oaths will precede their witness." Sahih Al Bukhari  Vol 5:3, Vol 8: 437 and Sahih Muslim 6159 [4]
